PPCA® Technology

Developed at the Hebrew University, PPCA^® is a novel biodegradable tri-block polymer representing a true breakthrough in surgical wound management. By combining poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) with poly(caprolactone) (PCL) segments, it forms a uniquely structured co-polymer that challenges conventional expectations of hydrophobic degradation.

Despite being more crystalline and hydrophobic than alternatives like PECA, PPCA^® degrades at a similar rate while maintaining tensile strength for 5-6 months, precisely the healing window required for immune-compromised patients and long-term tissue support without leaving permanent foreign material behind.

The distinctive degradation profile of PPCA^® ensures that it provides critical tensile strength throughout the healing process while fully resorbing within 12-18 months.

This unique balance offers both extended mechanical support and full biocompatibility, eliminating the complications linked to permanent implants.
