Developed at the Hebrew University, PPCA® is a novel biodegradable tri-block polymer representing a true breakthrough in surgical wound management. By combining poly(propylene oxide) (PPO) with poly(caprolactone) (PCL) segments, it forms a uniquely structured co-polymer that challenges conventional expectations of hydrophobic degradation.
Despite being more crystalline and hydrophobic than alternatives like PECA, PPCA® degrades at a similar rate while maintaining tensile strength for 5-6 months, precisely the healing window required for immune-compromised patients and long-term tissue support without leaving permanent foreign material behind.
